Nordic Walking Iowa is dedicated to bringing the highest level of Nordic Pole Walking instruction to the state of Iowa. I am available to speak to your group or association about the benefits of Nordic Walking and/or to put on a Nordic Walking 2 hour clinic including all equipment.  Just let me know and we can set something up.  My goal is to get everyone in Iowa Nordic Walking.

I am the co-owner of the Body Wisdom Massage School in Des Moines, Iowa and I am also a personal coach for peak performance. Fitness is a key element for both our massage students at Body Wisdom and a vital part of my "5 Star Self-Care" (tm) Approach that I use with my coaching clients.  Back in 400 B.C. Plato proclaimed "A healthy brain needs a healthy body" and with our fast paced lifestyles it's even more true today.

"My Search for the Perfect Aerobic Workout"
Like me you've probably tried a variety of aerobic exercises over the years including stair masters, wall climbers, elliptical machines, rowing machines, treadmills, stationery bikes and most of them have two things in common ... they all take place indoors (a bit boring) and most are not a "true" total body workout only working 35-65% of all the muscles in your body.

For aerobic fitness I originally started out as a long distance runner but over the years the constant pounding took a toll on my knees and I ultimately had to give it up along with so many others like me.  I own an elliptical machine which gives me quite a good workout but it's still a little hard on my knees and honestly it's a little boring to stay on it for the 60 minutes required.  Next up for me has been various forms of Fitness Walking which solved the knee problems and got me outdoors but without a very high turn over rate (walking really fast) I found it difficult to get into the 65-75% (of maximum heart rate) fat burning zone which has left it a bit lacking for me.

Enter Nordic Pole Walking
When I discovered Nordic Walking with poles I immediately knew that I had found the perfect fit for me!  Because walking with poles utilizes 90% of the muscles in the body it is easy to reach and maintain a target heart rate that provides a
perfect aerobic, LOW impact, fat burning, total body exercise program.  Combined with a healthy, balanced diet Nordic Pole Walking has allowed me to shed those 10 pounds that have been dogging me for years and I feel energetic and uplifted all day long.

Teaching Nordic Pole Walking Because I've been a teacher and workshop leader for the past twenty years the results I have been able to achieve personally has naturally inspired me to pass on the amazing benefits of Nordic Pole Walking to others.  I am a certified American Nordic Walking Association (ANWA) instructor the largest certifying body in the United States and I invite you to attend one of my scheduled Free Nordic Walking Clinics or contact me to bring Nordic Walking to your group, business or association.
